2018 Texas City Kite Festival

Hosted By Houston Kiteboarding this is a Free event and open to everyone. Located at the Levee/Dike in Texas City, Texas June 9th-10th

Activities and Features

Kite Flying

There will be recreational kite flying on the grassy Levee with kids and adults flying their single and two line kites.  Professional kite flyers will also by there with kite as large as 100ft and bigger.  There will be tents to get out of the sun and bathrooms throughout. This is a free event but to park on-site visitors without a dike/levee pass will need to pay the normal City Levee/Dike $5 dollar fee.  There will be free parking and a free event site shuttle just over 300ft from the event site near Rainbow park just across from Boyds, watch for signs. 

Vendors

With thousands of attendees and many vendors there is a ton of merchandise to browse and buy including kites large and small to fly the day of the event.  To register as a vendor see the vendor section below.  for a complete list of who and what will be at the festival see the vendor page.  

Food

The Kite Festival will have a larger selection of food than in the past with food trucks and pantries offering all kinds of tasty treats and lunch and dinner type offerings.

4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

2018 Texas City Kite Festival Vendor Setup.  Onsite security will be hired starting at 6pm Friday night until Saturday morning as well as after hours on Saturday until event time on Sunday.  Tents will start closing the side enclosures for the night after the event around 7pm on Saturday.

Kite Festival Day 1 is free to all attendees with free parking outside on the west side of the levee across from Boyds with a free shuttle to the event site.  The Levee/Dike area will be subject to the normal weekend $5/vehicle city charge for out of city guests.  Festivities include recreational kite flying including large show kites, banners, flags, etc.  Food vendors will be on hand with all kinds of delicious snacks and lunch and dinner type foods.  Lots of vendors will also be on site  including petting zoo, face painting, kites of all sorts for sale, arts and crafts, and many many more!  The visual spectacle on the Texas City of hundreds of vibrant kites all flying at one time is worth the trip to beautiful Texas City on the Galveston Bay.

This year's event will be two days starting 10am and running till 6pm Saturday 9 March 2018 and from 10am-4pm on Sunday 10 March 2018, with vendor setup from 4pm-6pm on Friday 8 March 2018.
